Fitness really gets down to 3 things – eat right, move more and sleep enough. Tom Rath, author of Strengthsfinder 2.0, recently authored a new book called exactly that – “Eat, Move, Sleep – How Small Choices Can Lead to Big Changes.”
As a young boy, Tom was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder that can lead to rampant cancerous growth throughout the body. He decided early that the more he learned, the more he could increase his odds of living longer.
The book is a compilation of research and Tom’s personal experience. Each chapter ends with 3 easy to implement ideas. It is quick read with practical pieces of advice.
Much of the advice he gives makes sense to me and they are easy to incorporate. I read a chapter or two a week and worked some of his suggestions in to my life. One of my favorites is to move for 10 minutes every hour. So, when I am sitting for a long period of time at my desk, I get up and walk around our building. I find that not only is it easier to get my 10,000 steps in each day, my thinking was clearer and I was more productive.
I highly recommend it. Pick it up for yourself or as a gift. It is available at any book supplier or you can order it from Amazon.
