9 Steps to a Healthier Holiday Weekend

Many of us are traveling this weekend and will be spending time with family. Staying on track with your workouts and healthy eating is always hard during holiday weekends and vacations.

Try these ideas:IMG_5500

  1. Bring your workouts with you. Grab a family member to join you or try doing the workout outside. I do this all the time. I get some strange looks, but it doesn’t matter. It feels good to stay on track. If you have Beachbody on Demand, you can download your workouts onto your device and play them offline. Kind of a nice option!
  1. Pack your Shakeology and blender. At least then you know you are getting one nutritious meal a day
  1. If you are going to a potluck, bring a healthy dish. I like to bring a fruit or vegetable salad. That way, I know there is one healthy dish I can choose from.
  1. Another potluck tip is to use a smaller plate. Commit to filling it only once.
  1. Track your food. When we track what we are eating, we make better choices.
  1. Drink plenty of water. Water keeps us hydrated and full.
  1. Limit the beer and cocktails. We tend to eat more when we are drinking alcohol. And, track your “drinks” just like you track your food. They are calories after all.
  1. Take walks. Take someone with you. It is a great way to get caught up and burn some calories.
  1. Play! How about some kickball, volleyball, swimming, kayaking, biking, tubing, or skiing? Just be active!IMG_2523
